4st 7lb

By The Manic Street Preaches from the album "The Holy Bible". Absolutely classic song.

Days since I last pissed,
cheeks sunken and despaired,
so gorgeous sunk to six stone,
lose my only remaining home,
see my third rib appear,
a week later all my flesh disappear,
stretching taut, cling-film on bone.
I'm getting better,
Karen says I've reached my target weight,
Kate and Emma and Kristin know it's fake,
problem is diet's not a big enough word,
I wanna be so skinny that I rot from view,
I want to walk in the snow,
and not leave a footprint,
I want to walk in the snow,
and not soil its purity,
stomach collapsed at five,
lift up my skirt my sex is gone,
naked and lonely and 5st 2,
may I bud and never flower,
my vision's getting blurred,
but I can see my ribs and I feel fine,
my hands are trembling stalks,
and I can feel my breasts are sinking,
mother tries to choke me with roast beef,
and sits savouring her sole ryvita,
that's the way you're built my father said,
but I can change, my cocoom shedding,
I want to walk in the snow,
and not leave a footprint,
I want to walk in the snow,
and not soil its purity,
Kate and Kristin and Kit Kat,
all things I like looking at,
too weak to fuss, too weak to die,
choice is skeletal in everybody's life,
I choose, my choice, to starve frenzy,
hunger soon passes and sickness soon tires,
legs bend, stockinged I am Twiggy,
and I don't mind the horror that surrounds me,
self-worth scatters, self-esteem's a bore,
I long since moved to a higher plateau,
this discipline's so rare so please applaud,
juts look at the fat scum who pamper me so,
yeh 4st 7, and epilogue of youth,
such beautiful dignity in self abuse,
I've finally come to understand life,
Through staring at my navel.

MILE END

By Pulp from the soundtrack to the film "Trainspotting"

We didn't have no-where to live
We didn't have no-where to go
'til someone said I know this place off Bedeth Road
It was on the 15th floor
It had a board across the door
It took an hour to prise it off and get inside

It smelt as if someone had died
The living room was full of flies
The kitchen sink was blocked
The bathroom sink not there at all
Ooooohh, it's a mess alright,
Yes it's Mile End.

And now we're living in the sky
I never thought I'd live so high
Just like heaven, if it didn't look like hell
The lift is always full of piss
The fifth floor landing smells of fish
Not just on Friday, every single other day

The older kids come out tonight
They kick a ball and have a fight
And maybe shoot somebody if they lose at pool
Ooooohh, it's a mess alright
Yes it's Mile End.

instrumental with faint conversations

Nobody wants to be your friend
'cos you're not from round here oh..
As if that was something to be proud about
The pearly king of the Isle of Dogs
Feels up children in the bogs
Down by the playing fields
Someone sets a car on fire
I guess you have to go right down
Before you understand just how
How low, how low a human being can go
Ooooohh, it's a mess alright
Yes it's Mile End.
Mile End.

more inane warblings from jarv
Yatatatatatata Yatatatatatatatat

UNDERGROUND MOVIES

From the album "Now I'm A Cowboy" by The Auteurs

When we first met it was raining,
In a house, with bay windows,
All the fittings and the fixtures,
And a cat, alot of injury.
She's got a credo in underground movies,
Her father, is a lawyer,
Who paid for the fittings and the fixtures,
And a house, with bay windows,

And I'm calling from the Baltimore hotel,
Don't let it ring again,
Your moves are your own,
You're on a limb again,
Calling from the Baltimore hotel,
Don't let it ring again,
Your moves are your own,
Don't let him in again,

Four weeks later in April,
I took, her to the doctors,
Said I've no prescription,
For compromised solution,

And I'm calling from the Baltimore hotel,
Don't let it ring again,
Your moves are your own,
You're on a limb again,
Calling from the Baltimore hotel,
Don't let it ring again,
Your moves are your own,
Don't let him in again,

Ten years caught in a trap by my own cunning,
Thought I was smart, thought I was dying,
Three years living in a flat without water running,
Thought it was smart, thought it was funny,

I'm writing her memoirs,
The underground press remain faithful,
Ghost writing her memoirs,
And maybe I'll get it on cable.

And I'm calling from the Baltimore hotel,
Don't let it ring again,
Your moves are your own,
You're on a limb again,
Calling from the Baltimore hotel,
Don't let it ring again,
Your moves are your own,
Don't let him in again.

CAUGHT BY THE FUZZ

From the album "I Should Coco" by Supergrass

Caught by the fuzz,
While still on the buzz,
In the back of the van,
With my head in my hands,
It's like a bad dream,
I was,
Only fifteen...

If only my brother could be here now,
He'd get me out and sort me otherwise,
I knew I should have stayed at home tonight...

Locked in the cell,
Feeling unwell,
I talk to a man,
He says,
Better to tell,
Who sold you the blow?
Well it was,
no-one I know,
If only you'd tell us we'd let you go,
We'd make it up for you just start to tell us what you know,
We'll make you wish you stayed at home tonight...
(oooo-waaaa-ooooo waaaaa-ooooooo ooooooo oooooo)
(oooo-waaaa-ooooo waaaaa-ooooooo ooooooo oooooo)

Here comes my mum,
Well she,
Knows what I've done,
Just tell them the truth,
You know where it's from,
You've blackened our name,
Well you,
Should be ashamed,

If only your father could see you now,
He'd break down and he'd throw you out for sure,
I never should have let you out tonight...
(tonight, tonight tonight, tonight tonight, tonight tonight,
tonight tonight, tonight tonight, tonight tonight, tonight tonight....)

BANANA CO

B side to "Fade Out" by Radiohead

oh
banana co
we really love you
need you

and oh
banana co
we'd really love to
believe you

everything's underground
we've got to dig it up somehow

oh
she said no go
she said she'd like to
she's seen you

but oh
banana co
she knows if you die
then we all do

everything's underground
we've got to dig it up somehow

everything's pulling me down
we've got to put it out somehow

The Glastonbury 1995 Jarvis Cocker Speech

I don't usually make any notes before we play because I think we should always be spontaneous on stage, know what I mean? ... pause... You know what I mean? I think you should come on and be in the moment, and you know we come on here, and you're there, and we do our thing, and we see what you make of it, and then it comes back to us and it's something that happens. Alright? whoooh from crowd Which is what I believe in. Because I was sat in the tent today and I was thinking about things I did actually write a few things down. pause Let's see if I've missed any of them out... Carrots, potatoes.. oh no, that's my shopping list. confused reaction from crowd Alright, I've said most things, the only other thing is you can't buy feelings and you can't buy anything worth having. Also, the other thing is, if you want something to happen enough then it actually will happen, OK? Woooooh! And I believe that. Infact that's why we're stood here on this stage today after 15 years. Cos we wanted it to happen, know what I mean. (this sentence is almost drowned out by the crowd going ape) So if a lanky get like me can do it, and us lot, you acn do it too. Alright? Woooooh! So, on that positive note, this is our last song, we can't play any more after this, this is com- on-pee----pul.... She came from Greece...derderder...
